This is a Windows application that consists of a ZIP file. Download the file and decompress the file using a ZIP utility.
This new version adds the ability to calculate simple Bandpass 4th order (single reflex bandpass) designs.

Installing Mobile Design
This program is equipped with an installation utility. To install the program,
double click on the setup.exe
file. This program will install all of the necessary files on your hard
drive. Once you have done this, you may run the program from the directory
named "mobile" on your hard drive.
When you complete this installation, you will have a program group and an
icon that you can click on to automatically start the program.
To set up in this way, run Windows and go to the Program Manager. Click
and hold on the File menu, drag down to New and release the mouse button.
This should bring up New Program Object. This window will contain Program
Group and Program Item. You should start out on Program Group.
Click on OK, and this should bring you to the program group properties.
The top line will ask you for a description. This is where you name the
group Mobile Design. Type in the name and click on OK.
This should give you a blank window with no icons in it, displaying the
name you assigned to it in the top of the window.
Now hold down the Alt button on your keyboard and double click on your mouse
while you hold down the Alt button. This should bring up a window titled
Program Item Properties. The top line will ask for a description. Again,
name the icon with Mobile Design. This name will appear under the icon.
The next line is the command line. This line is important, because it tells
the computer where to look for your Mobile Design program. You should type
in this for the command line: C:\MOBILE\MOBILE.EXE. The next line asks for
a working directory, simply type in: C:\ . This tells the program to use
all the files on your hard drive to run the program. If C is not your hard
drive letter, make sure to change the letter in both command lines.
Once you have these lines complete, click on OK. This should display the
pre-programmed icon built into the program. This should also place the icon
in the window that you have already created. Click on the icon, and the
program should run and bring you to the opening page of the Mobile Design
program.
Using MobileDesign 1
This program requires that you have a basic knowledge of speaker physics.
There are no help files for this program since they are not needed. The
program itself is very common in behaviour to other cabinet design systems.
Run the program from either the icon or under file
manager where you installed the program, and this will bring you to the
startup screen. Click on OK, and 3 small icons in the upper left corner
of the window will become active.
The leftmost icon is to design either a ported or sealed enclosure. You
must first decide on the type of speaker you will be using, then you must
know the required Thiele/Small parameters to be able to accurately design
an enclosure. You can also decide on how many speakers you will be using.
With two speakers selected , you can select either acoustic coupled or
isobarik style. If you choose only one speaker, both options are dimmed.
If you choose three or more speakers, the default is Acoustic Coupled.
The second icon is used to calculate box volume. You will know how much
cabinet internal volume you need after you have been through the initial
design program. Type in the volume required, and measure the automobile
to determine the largest cabinet size. Plug these numbers into the fields,
and the program will compute the volume you have with the supplied measurements.
If you don't have enough volume, then make one or more of the measurements
larger to get more volume, or design a different cabinet. Remember that
these are inside measurements you are using in the design , so you should
remember to subtract the thickness of the wood.
The third icon is a handy conversion program that will allow you to convert
from cubic feet to cubic inches. You can also go from liters to cubic
feet. This is helpful if you have speaker specifications that are not
compatible with the units of measure you need to enter into the program.
The fourth icon is a print manager icon that is not yet active in the
current version of the program. In future versions, this icon will allow
you to print a hard copy of the results in your design.
The fifth icon is a question box which displays the phone numbers to Mobile
Dynamics if you have problems that you can't resolve.
The sixth icon is to open a help file on the program. In the current edition,
this box is not active as the program is fairly self-explanatory. Later
versions will include help text for the program.
This program is designed using the same Thiele/Small parameters and formulas
used in classroom sessions at Mobile Dynamics Installation Schools. You
should get the same results with this program that you would get by performing
the calculations manually.
Future upgrades will be released in Mobile Design 2, and will include
a speaker parameter library, bandpass enclosure design, and crossover
design.
